Advertising and Branding

Advertising: 
-Biggest mass media communication industry

-Visual presentation of a message


-If working for a larger agency, be prepared to move around a lot. It's also a high pressure job

-It is easier to start with a small advertising firm


-Mostly concept driven more than the actual design

-If wanting to pursue an art director position, choose the agency...don't let them choose you.

-Must more is at stake that just designing, more collaboration


Branding:
-There is more in branding than just a logo

- It's all about the big picture  

-Modern technologies like Internet makes it easier for researching but also makes us feel frustrated because we might find that many things have already been done.


-It is okay to have a system or a style, just don't get stuck in a rut

-Create a concept first

-Storytelling and making the audience ask "what is next?"
